What type of exam is given?
It is a 90 question multiple choice exam which is graded immediately following the test.
What should I do to prepare for the exam?
There is a study guide provided with your background information that will help to prepare you for the exam.
What should I bring to the testing site?
Applicants must provide a valid picture identification at the test site. Be sure and bring the background information packet filled out completely. The packet has five pages that must be notarized by a notary public.

Does the City of Frisco offer Certification pay?
There are several certifications in which Frisco firefighters are compensated by the Frisco Fire Department.
What is the work schedule for Career personnel with the Frisco Fire Department?
We currently work 24 hours on and 48 hours off. There are some daytime positions that work four 12 hour shifts rotating throughout the week.
Do you have to be a paramedic to work for the Frisco Fire Department?
It is not required to be a paramedic with the Frisco Fire Department, but to qualify to attend certain schools and to be eligible to promote paramedic certification is required.
Can I volunteer as a firefighter for the City of Frisco?
Yes. The City of Frisco Fire Department is always accepting applications for Volunteer firefighters. Please note, the hiring process for Volunteer is the same as a paid position. If for some reason you are eliminated from the paid process, you will not be eligible to volunteer.
Does the City of Frisco provide uniforms and bunker gear?
The Frisco Fire Department provides all of your station uniforms as well as your bunker gear. The department does not provide your boots for station wear.
